The noted photographer in the spotlight as he lectures at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The slide is one of his earliest photos; one of his latest is an immense camera obscura view of this museum now on display at the Print Center in Philly.
I decided to go with the "vert." The tighter crop cut off the bottom of the lectern and the black base, making the image (I thought) dull, and shifting the attention to the slide. So I took Sharon's suggestion but the other preferences. Thanks for your help! - Max

Like Sharon's pick too, but was afraid it gives the photo on the wall more emphasis than the photographer himself. Both are excellent crops imo.
Sharon, that's an interesting idea. And surprising to me, since I usually crop very tight. I have posted several crops athttp://www.pbase.com/mistermax/abelordo - what do you think? I'll give my "final answer" tomorrow. - Max
Very interesting, Max! What would you think to cropping the whole right side of the picture out, up to the blue line behind the photographer? The flag and the shadows don't really add to the story you are telling in this shot. Have you ever seen a working camera obscura? I saw one in Wales years ago and it was just amazing. ~Sharon
