Hey Paul, thanks for your input :-).

As I noted this is a combination of 5 exposures.
The early morning sun looked exactly like it did in the photo, very intense and quite orange.
Did a bit of 'Burn' was it?
To lighthen the hull of the ship and bring out a bit of detail on it as it was fairly dark..
Besides that just the standard PS-ing was used, a bit of shadow/highlight etc.

They're a million of ways to take and edit a photo, for better or for worse this is what I took and i'm quite happy with it.

Cheers, Jamdiver.

This looks more like a painting or computer generated image to me than a photo. Having the orange sun, then the prow this side in near full shadow but the rest of this side of the ship in full detail with the lighter grey sand looks most odd. A painting by a colourblind artist perhaps. I'm not keen on what the HDR thingie has done

Well, what can I say? Interesting, this about the HDR stuff. The details on this side of the ship are amazing under the circumstances here. Wonderful shot.

This is just awesome...love the composition and lighting.

Very nice Jam! I use the shadow and highlight in PS now and then and it helps if I don't alter too much. I tried HDR in PS once and couldn't get it working. This image inspires me to try again when I have some time to figure it out. Well done.

It looks great with the HDR. I had assumed you'd dodged the side of the ship facing up since there's a soft halo around the ship. But HDR is cooler. And you've done a really nice job with it here. I agree, it looks very natural unlike many HDR photos I see. Excellent work!

Hey Rod, you can achieve a 'similiar' look in Photoshop using the shadows/highlights tool...
But it's not exactly the same, generally you start getting halos and the pic begins to take on an over/obviously processed look....

I used a little bit of shadows/highlights to bring out the detail on the hull of the wreck.
HDR pics don't have to 'look' like HDR pics, it depends on how agressive you are with the various tools and which program.
I use Photomatix to generate the HDR, some use photoshop to do this...

Jammy in one of the threads talking about HDR one bloke said we can achieve much the same thing with the "shadows & highlight" tool in PS. Do you know if this is the case? I can't imagine so otherwise people wouldn't be bothered to blend lots of picys together. Your shot here looks a bit more natural than some other HDR shots I've seen because in my mind the sun is so low & weak allowing you to get detail on the shadow side of the boat. It does look nice a:-)

thanks for showing us this wonderful sight.

Christina, yeah i've done a bit of pp to this photo.
Namely in the form of HDR, what you're seeing are 5 exposures blended together.
This site explains it a lot better than I can,http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/hdr.shtml

Neo, quite true... however if it was sunk then I could dive it and take photos of it too ;-)....

I am glad they weren't successful in towing this old ship out to sea because if they had you would never have been able to take this shot and we would never had been able to enjoy it. Awesome.

Well done Jammy:-)

Wow! this has got great color and light. Did you post process it a lot? It looks unreal and I can't tell what you've done to it. It's subtle whatever it is. Nice one!

What a ghostly, dramatic image. The lighting is perfect for it.
