That's why I don't change me in camera menus Aammm, I always forget to change them back again:-)
aam1234 21-Oct-2006 22:49
Did you really mess up the WB. I think you did it on purpose.
Rod 20-Oct-2006 06:08
Thanks Jano, I didn't see you down there:-)
Rod 18-Oct-2006 19:26
Yes Aaammm 1971 at Lake Ontario Canada:-)
aam1234 18-Oct-2006 11:56
Was the example from 35 years ago? Man, they screw the BW a lot then ;) Don't blame them, they used film at that time :)

My ole mate Rod, this is not a cliche, this is a classic!
ctfchallenge18-Oct-2006 11:07
Thanks RK:-) Why didn't you want to mention the similarity of Lonnits & my shot Aammm? I hope you're not implying I copied her "original" shot mate as this is a typical cliche silhouette with a tree frame. It's pot luck who walks past for the picy. Our shots are just our takes on a well worn theme. Here's a similar cliche silhouette from 35yrs ago with the dog lost in the foreground darkening just seeing his ear holes. People have bin taking shots like this since they built the pyramids mate..............No I wasn't there then:-)

Nicely done Rod! I can't say your WB is off but only you would know :) Depending on the day, doesn't some ocean/lake shots just have that blue hue??? This is nicely framed also, and the two dogs, two people really stand out. jano
aam1234 18-Oct-2006 08:08
Didn't want to mention that ;)

Awesome shot Rod...almost looks like Lonnit;s shot from the CSLR Challenge.

Honestly Rod, and I mean it as a compliment...this is the best photograph I've seen from you. OK ok, one of the ultimate best.
Rod 17-Oct-2006 08:43
Thanks Christina & Jammy:-) I might do a tutorial on how to forget to reset your WB:-)

Love it :-).
The sparkling deep blues speak to me...

This WB is perfect. It adds to the feel of it being morning with the air still a bit blue. I like it a lot. B&W would be dull. (Though I didn't see that version). Good "mistake"!
aam1234 16-Oct-2006 10:33
Actually Rod many people do that (use the wrong WB on purpose) for creative effects. This is one excellent example.
Rod 16-Oct-2006 09:27
Wot you mean lucky, I set the WB on Flouro to get this effect.................cough cough:-):-)
aam1234 16-Oct-2006 08:42
Ha ha I think you got lucky with the wrong WB, it's working very nice here.
Rod 16-Oct-2006 08:25
That's funny I like it now:-) Thanks Aaamm:-)
Rod 16-Oct-2006 08:21
Here it is Aaamm, now I want to see your coloured lemon:-)
aam1234 16-Oct-2006 07:17
The WB wasn't obvious that it was off, it had nice blue tint to it. If you ask me I prefer the color version, but it's your entry.
Rod 16-Oct-2006 07:04
I may have uploaded the colour one very briefly, I shot all these wiv the camera WB set on fluorescent from the day before so the colours look off. I downloaded the latest Adobe Lightroom & you can change the WB even on Jpegs so that's very handy. I prefer this one as a B&W but the other bland shot I posted needs the colour.
aam1234 15-Oct-2006 12:28
Wasn't it in color before, or is it my imagination.
Rod 15-Oct-2006 07:17
They were an intentional play on the word lighthouse took me ages to line up the sun in the window:-)
Paul 15-Oct-2006 07:06
This is great Rod, shame you got rid of the lighthouse before i had chance to comment about it's 2 eye piercing blown highlights:>) Tut tut.
Rod 15-Oct-2006 06:09
Thanks Aaamm & Neo:-) I think it's because the island in the distance doesn't run parallel to the land Neo.

I really like this!
* My eye wants the water to be straight at the horizon, but this would be at the expense of the foreground becoming slanted. I am not sure which would look better without doing a comparison (and I am too lazy to try it myself). The current view may be more natural since the water's far edge isn't truly at the horizon anyway.
aam1234 15-Oct-2006 04:12
Wow
Rod 15-Oct-2006 03:44
Thanks mate:-)
