Oh, I see what you're talking about Rod! I would have called it a "tube amp" for vaccum tube. That's what we in the states call them.

:-) Yes a valve amplifier Armin, before transitors everything was valves. They look like skinny light bulbs as in your picy here. Most guitarists only like to use valve guitar amps for their nicer sound & the nice way they overdrive (distort) Valve amps for Hi Fi are very expensive & still made today.
Wot is the bulb (light) in your picy?
