Hi Rod Thanks for the info, I knew I was going to learn something here. I have followed your instruction and have posted the result herehttp://www.pbase.com/image/63469400 It is a much better result. Cheers Mate.
Thanks also to Jano and RK, this foto wasn't cropped.
Cheers Dougie

It seems to be from Jpeg artefacts from too much compression Dougie, this shot is only about 25k & we all upload at about 140k. How do you downsize your shots in PS?
I go to "Image size" & make the shot 700 on the long side, then I use "save as" this gives you a slider to set the amount of Jpegging to use from great to poor in numbers. Mine normally are around the 6 up to 11depending on the detail in the picy. Just below this slider it gives the different Ks the shot will be as you change the numbers. So I just set the number where it ses the size is about 140k.
Let us know if this isn't too clear mate.

Hi Folks thanks for the comments. The only thing I did in PS was to sharpen it a bit. When I posted the foto before rushing off to work this morning I didn't view before logging out, should have though. Rod, I now what posturising is thanks, I have had this effect on several of my fotos, which is unintentional, I don't really like it especially on this shot. If you can tell why it happens and how to prevent it I would very much appreciate your advice and would be learning something. Thanks again. Dougie

I love the poppy Dougie but is the DOF real or PSed in? This is a nice shot though - great colors, lighting and nice perspective. :-) CJ!

I like the viewpoint of this for this topic Doug but it looks like you have tried to make this a work of art in PS. Is the posturising intentional mate?
