Thank you all. Jano, I discovered how to do this while trying to get a DOF shot of flowers in a flowerbox. Open aperture all the way, set your focus, and zoom in. The blurry blues are lobelias that were very close to the lens. I really liked the effect it gave, and I'm going to try it again with some other subjects.

You captured that "dreamy" feeling Mary Anne! Can't figure out how to do that yet with the "blury" effect.... Maybe I just need more colors in the background? Lovely. jano

This is gorgeous Mary Anne with a fantastic light on the flower & one of the nicest backgrounds I've seen. Plus a true DOF shot from the G3. Great work
