Workin' * (updated)

California

40mm, f/7 1/125s, ISO100

I decided to change the pic to one with a tighter crop, this one also has light emphasising the main subject more. Thanks for your helpful comments. Rods original comment describes my friend perfectly. The sky was blown out, I wanted it darker, and tried to simulate vingetting, I'll keep trying, looks kinds splotchy right now =)

other sizes: small medium large original auto

I think this shot is as powerful as the truck. The guy, the truck and the background is nice...

Both the truck and the guy are very characteristic

Oh, my pic in the Rogue's gallery was taken the same day, I changed my Rogue's pic, I didn't know I had to change the date too.

I really like the picture. The truck especially has character, and I just wonder how it is different from the one in the Rogue's Gallery that was dated in October of 05. Everything seems the same except for the dude in front of the truck. Paty

I saw the original when I didn't have much time to comment, and can now say this update fits the topic much better. Nicely done.

That's a lot better for the topic ET well done mate its looking good:-)
Rod 28-May-2006 05:49
:-) Yes Jano because the light is on the truck we are taking that as the intended focal point. But I'm just pointing out that the bloke looking at the camera has assumed that role for my eyes. I think RK thinks the same as he mentions there's no light on the bloke if he's the intended focal point. The shots on topic if the truck is the focal point but it's just not working quite right:-)
janewigginsphotography28-May-2006 05:39
ummm don't you want light on the focal point? or is the truck the focal point? I'm confused now Rod.... time for me to hit the pillow me thinks :) jano
Rod 28-May-2006 04:56
Geez Jano me CRT monitor makes the bloke the focal point & the truck a distraction:-)
janewigginsphotography28-May-2006 04:10
I think if you had the worker just a few steps behind so the light was illuminating the face this would work... For me my eye is drawn to the truck upon first opening. The worker is in the shadows and I think the emphasis should be on him. Good to see you back etischer :) jano

Yes you would think the truck being red & with really nice light onit would be the focal point but the bloke does demand our attention. If the bloke was working around the truck & not looking at the camera the truck would then grab our attention more. This bloke has as much attitude as the truck:-) Nice shot mate:-)

Excellent perspective...not sure about lighting the focal point.
