Muted May 'Monet-esque' Sunset by Ken Brown

Perth, Western Australia

May in the southern hemisphere is that time of year when the sun has lost some of its 'sting' resulting in more muted colours reflected in the sunsets seen.

I have just realised that this pic is not elligible as it was taken 2 days before the start of the challenge. Accordingly, I have withdrawn it from the 'Eligible' and placed it here in the Exhibition section. It might be a good idea for me to read the rules a bit better next time!! Sorry for any inconvenience. Ken B.

I must say I've never associated the type of sunset light to any particular month. Maybe it's more the isolation of living in Perth:-)

Beautiful sunset Ken, and nice reflections in the water! Unfortunately, I didn't get to Perth when I was in Australia so I'm anxious to go back and see your beautiful part of the country. :-) CJ

To the anonymous person who posted the last message, I think you mean "for all intents and purposes ..". Nit picking aside, though I am inclined to agree with you to a certain extent, here in Perth, Australia we don't get the soft effects seen in this picture at any other time of the year, so for me and many West Australians, this is May in Perth. while it is a nice shot, for all intense purposes, this could've been shot in August last year. Nothing really tells me that it's May other than the title and the EXIF.

Ken, I like both your shots. I was going to suggest going to a lower pixel count for each, but between my page flips you did it!! They look great @ 800x600. Relflections of the darker clouds really work for me. Paul (pbates)
