Robin's Eggs

For some strange reason a robin thought this wreath on the front door would be a good place to build a nest.

I almost fell off the ladder trying to get this shot! The nest is very tiny and the wreath was fairly high up on the door so it was a challenge. I liked the contrast of the red next to the nest too. :-) CJ

The red is a great contrast to this shot. Nice job.

Got it, now I understand. And agree with you that this crop gives better context.

Thanks Rod and aam, for the comments. I cropped this picture many different ways but since I wanted to make sure the sense of place was apparent, I wanted to leave some of the wreath and door visible, otherwise it would just be a shot of a bird's nest and that didn't look very interesting to me. When I crop a little off the right, it makes the nest a little too centered to my eyes but I'll try again and see if it looks better. CJ

I'd say a little bit from (our) right.

I'm not so sure Aamm as the rest of the shot gives some context as to the funny place to put the nest.
Where would you crop it side bottom or both?
aam1234 12-May-2006 21:57
Actually the photo could benefit from a little cropping. Looks busy if you ask me CJ.

Well controlled shot Carole, it looks really good. It would have been easy to get a real mess here with the dominant colours competing with the little eggs. But the eggs & nest look great & are the focal point, not easy with red in a shot. Well done.

Very cute.
