Ah I see RK, but if you were referring to my shot you would have been correct, plus the rotten flash look:-)

Rod, I was criticizing my picture above when I wrote "feel that the background spoils the image...bit too busy. ".
The crop of your bee is really sharp.

Of course my shot is a shocker, but the point I'm making is that if I can get a clear shot of a bee sort of in flight with a G2 which is incapable of producing bokeh, that you with a long lens on a Dslr should be able to likewise but with a nice bokeh. It looks better cropped but would be unprintable.

Thanks Rod, Cat and Britt.
Rod: I wanted to capture these bees in flight...with a plain background (just like the birds)...captured this bee between flowers...feel that the background spoils the image...bit too busy.

Well I don't know if wot me & Paul have is a bumble bee, we just call em bees. I was just taking close up shots of a flower when the bees kept getting in the shot. So to get one in flight with the G2 I had to use the flash. But with the 350D it should bee a doddle to get a shot without the flash. Your shot looks way better than my duff looking shot RK but I would think you could get the bee to look a lot better if you get it flying into the flower. Trying to focus on a bee in general flight away from flowers would be ridiculously hard.

Thanks Jano, Mary Anne, CJ and Rod.
Rod - I find these guys to be tough to photograph...this is best I have on the flight of a bumble bee.
I am very impressed that you find these bee shots easy.
Following is a closeup ...different shot...different day.

Bee shots are quite easy to get when they're around flowers, even me & Paul have some taken wiv a slow G series camera. So how do we judge this shot, if it was taken in full flight not near a flower then we can excuse the bee for not showing a lot of detail & it makes the shot a very good effort. If it was taken around flowers then RK, you can do a lot better mate

Another nice one RK. Those wings must really move fast to give that little bit of blur at 1/2000s! I tried taking pictures of some bees and they were too fast for me to even focus! I really want your macro lens too! Good job. :-) CJ
