Thanks Britt, Dylan & Brent:-) If I had any brains or creativity I should have tried blowing smoke behind the Saxes. Next challenge:-) I was lucky this turned out, as I wasn't in the mood for a set up shot & only took about eight shots, maybe if I was in the mood nothing would have turned out:-)
Musical instruments make for great subjects.

Dylan loves this one, Rod. I may have to dig out his sax to take some photos like this too.
ctfchallenge23-Apr-2006 18:57
Rod, I use the kitchen too (for photos) LOL It is tougher than it looks, You did a nice job here, I really like the feel of the background. Yvonne
Brent 23-Apr-2006 15:26
It's not hard to imagine you blowing hot air through these things much to the nieghbors discontent Rod. I like the way the background almost look like the smoke you would see in a typical jazz club. Very well done.
Rod 23-Apr-2006 04:44
You're the third girl to shout at me, & if I count Mereana that's four:-)
Thanks Mary Anne this is me final three..................sort of.

Beautiful warm colors here, Rod...BUT STOP CHANGING YOUR SHOTS!!

A tripod is the only thing I would say is essential for now as I've found when I have used any lighting set up the highlights blow to buggery. Mind you that's my inability coming to the fore but I've had more success just using any old light source & just change the white balance too suit. This one was shot on the kitchen floor with light coming in the window from the right & the fluorescent in the ceiling. I tried one of Mereana's small sewing lights & it put too many BHs in the chrome & brass. Mereana made me some backdrops about 6 colours on a foldable wooden thing that just rolls up into a small bag. I never iron it before using so I spend sges cloning & burning the background creases out:-)
Techo is the man to see for tips on set up shots & he knows how to light them properly.

I am going to savor the moment! Set up shots are so much harder than I ever thought. Now I want to get some decent lights, a good tripod and some backdrops and other stuff. Good job with that kit lens too. I need to try mine out. You now have 3 good shots Rod so stop changing them! :-) CJ

Changed the title in case it gets no votes & another theory goes down the gurgler:-)
Rod 22-Apr-2006 04:28
Carole, me theory is blown out of the water:-) It was a pain in the butt to set up & it created a real mess in the kitchen which I have to clean up before Mereana gets home from the craft show. The other pee off is I really like the shot:-)
Stop gloating woman:-)
ctfchallenge22-Apr-2006 04:23
So, how do you feel about your set-up shot? It looks good too don't you think? :-) CJ
Rod 22-Apr-2006 04:17
OK, I'm cured, your the second girl to shout at me to-day:-)
All final entries....................................................they are.
ctfchallenge22-Apr-2006 04:13

I'm on my way Rod...just wanted to check to see how many new ones there were from you and if Jano started yelling yet. :) You old grumpus!!
Rod 21-Apr-2006 21:42
Gad, I luv strong woman. But Jano I got a heap of shot's yesterday & you're cramping me style:-)
No Carole, I just had the wide angle lens on & was close to the container looking up. I stopped lying down for shots because at my age people keep calling the ambulance:-)
Go to bed Britt:-)

Nice shot Rod - did you have to lay on the ground for this one? I like the perspective in this and the deep blue of the doors. :-) CJ
