Gawd thanks Paul you often miss the brilliance in me shots. I don't know how much the cyclone up norf affected the waves cos as I drove down the coast the waves were very average. This was down near the NSW border at Rainbow beach & Snapper rocks where they held the world surfing contest a few weeks ago. There were white caps out at sea so maybe it’s from the cyclone that affects different beaches.

See, if this challenge had been one of those easy ones you like so much you wouldn't have turned out anything remotely as good as this. This is first rate. You would have walked around your backyard fag in one hand, camera in the other looking for a simple shot to fit in with the challenge or maybe took your camera to work and stopped off on the way. You've made an effort to go out and use the fabulous waves the cyclone has helped to whip up down your way and turned out some of the best shots i've seen from you.

The sense of fun and also danger in this is superb, look at his hands, look at the surge of water in the background and the sense of exuberance on his face. Excellent

Thanks all:-) I hate to spoil the illusion but this bloke is just jumping off the rocks into a rock pool. You can just see a darker area just behind his back which is the rock he jumped from. As the wave hits the rock & explodes over him he jumped into the rock pool.

Great cature Rod! These are exactly the kind of photos I'd be taking if I lived where I used to live in California. Up in Seattle where I am now there is other beauty, but I do miss the sound of heavy surf. The telephoto must be making him look closer to the rocks than he really is or I know from my surfing days he (and his board) are in big trouble.
Hope this one stays- I like it.

Thanks Girls & especially Kelly, who is a new fan of mine:-) & is a girl too ................I hope:-)
Mary Anne, I don't know much about surfing conditions but I think this is par for the course. Driving down the coast I only saw average waves but at this one spot they were quite good. So I think there's always at least one spot on the coast that will give decent waves on most days.
Jano this is now me final three:-) & yes I do some work looking at some problem jobs on me way to get me picys:-)

Rod - I spent a while 2 minute commenting on your picys last nite - and now you've replaced them hehe..... Is that all you do all day is stand by the sea and wait for boofheads???? This is a great shot btw, but it doesn't really matter cause you're replace it in two minutes lol :) jano

Oh, OUCH! I hope he was OK even if he was very stupid. I wish you'd put the one with the beautiful tube wave back in even if people complained about only half the surfer being visible. Or, you could go out while the surf is good and try to get another one that includes more of the surfer. Is this an especially good time for surf in Australia?
