An unframed version can be viewed here http://www.pbase.com/jstrong/image/56842014. I usually do not use frames, but thought it complimented this image.

Rod - lol - i have to disagree that this is a "McDonald's shot"!! I have pondered the comments you earlier posed, and have come to the conclusion that I like the image as it is. It is not a graphic - it is an image taken totally from cam and made into what some would consider a "graphic" or "art". I don't pretend to be an artist... but I like what I produced here. A red die or "dice" that may not have been photographed any other way. Something set apart from the rest of the world around it. For me, it is more of an expression of what photography can produce...maybe not a realistic image, but yet it is a photo of itself and taken into a different perspective. It's what I like to do...take an image to its boundaries. I realize that many may not like it, and perhaps a few will. But, I will let it be without realistic shadow or human formation, and let it lie on its own merits. Thanks for your comments as, again, they make me think and try to achieve beter things. For this image, I will just it "die" as it will :) jano

It's always hard to see why something our brain likes, to think of it as not so good. It’s the same problem trying to convince a person that just loves McDonalds that they would get better food at a five star restaurant. The brain loves McDonalds as it's easy to eat & it gets an instant sugar & fat fix. But with education good nutrition starts to make sense, same with photography. This is a McDonalds shot especially wiv the frame. The frame is like the attractive wrappings McDonalds hide their junk food in.
Warning do not eat this shot:-)

This is very well shot Jano and will likely please many here. I have to admit I'm not a big fan of this type of image though; I guess it just looks a little too much like "clipart" for my taste. You did a skillfull job with it though.

I prefer it with the frame.

Thanks all for the kind comments. I am confused on how a pinstriped frame can make an image appear to be more graphic than one without. With that said, I have posted the same photo in exhib, but with the cast shadow that the original image portrayed. Let me know if you feel that image appears less graphic and gives a sense of more realism. I like both images. I don't think this image "needs" the frame, but I like it more with than without - perhaps a frame more to the outside? I will have to think on this and ponder some more. I appreciate your thoughts! jano

If your image needs complimenting with a frame then there's something wrong with the image. I agree with Oved, here you have a graphic. A very nice graphic, but just a graphic. Stark white backgrounds enhance the graphic look also. I like the unframed one best. You did a great job photographing the dice itself, well done:-)

I like the non-framed better - looks less of a graphic and more like a photo - but that just me.. /Oved

Very simple and straightforward. Like it a lot, Jano.
