* Nature's Historian

Atlanta

This is a portrait of one of the best known nature's historians. They keep track of all the climatic changes and write it down for centuries at a time, all through their life. And even after death their work can be read by the scientists and interpreted to understand the history of nature as it happened.

I 2nd that , the square crop it works great for this image. I like the pitch black shadows, it works great to reveal the intricate texture.

Nice composition. I usually don't like square crops, but this one works well.

Really abstract and very detailed. I love looking at stumps and wondering what secrets and history they hold. Very nice! jano
