Hey, Rod, this is really good! I like the close-up of the tree with the reference tree in the background so we can get a sense of what the whole tree looks like, Very nice! ~Sharon

That's a big tree! I like the one in the bg setting a reference point for me. Nice one.
Rod 26-Jan-2006 04:56
Thanks Mary Anne, I needed one more shot for the mini challenge:-)

Yes, I like this one better, Rod. Doesn't it remind you of an elephant's foot?

Silly billy, I've never heard of that. You would enjoy Jano's cookies a lot more Y:-)
ctfchallenge25-Jan-2006 15:21
LOL, silly me.....Fig Newton cookies LOL. I know it is not that kind of fig tree but at midnight last night it seemed funny. Yvonne

I think I've covered everyones suggestions & I do like it better. Ididn't post this one because I thought the detail in the roots would upset the composition by keeping the eye on the main trunk. Thanks all:-)
janewigginsphotography24-Jan-2006 04:02
This is a good concept, but might have been better with the main subject taken a further distance back, this getting the some roots of the subject with the distance subject as well. I think would have added to the impact and better composition. I'm thinking "reshoot" or recrop :) jano

Excellent concept...find it over-sharpened...atleast on my monitor.

I'm not sure about this one Rod, there's something that I can't put my finger on? Maybe the lack of detail /contrast in the trunk.

Thanks all:-) I will have a play with the lightness on the trunk Mary Anne & wine makes most things seem nicer Tomas:-) Thanks again all.

Very smart composition, like it very much.
ctfchallenge22-Jan-2006 23:57
Just coming back to tell you how great this is (for me at least). Not sure if that bottle of wine in my belly has something to do with it. Tomas

Lovely compo! Really a great series, Rod!
ctfchallenge22-Jan-2006 18:25
Rod, I think the closer tree is somewhat overexposed.

ctfchallenge22-Jan-2006 16:23
Wow, that's by far the best I've seen here. I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to get the further tree more in focus by reducing the aperture. Well, probably not and I still love it as it is. Tomas
