Beautiful colors in those birch trees - they seem so soft and delicate. jano

That crop is a nice improvement :-) Now my eye isn't drawn to the sky. CJ

Great shot! Can I assume it was windy and you used a tripod? Rich

That's it James now the foreground & background shadows work nicely together & we can concentrate on the lovely light on the trees.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I've cropped the sky and I think that it does make a huge diff. :-)

I agree with RK, cropping the sky out of this would really make this image pop. It is quite lovely the way it is but that would make it much more dramatic. ~Sharon

I love the color and feathery look of the birch trees! I agree that cropping out the sky and leaving in the dark forground might improve it though. Nice light and I also like the contrast of the birch against the other trees :-) CJ

Beautiful image, Carr. The light is just perfect.

The birch look just great against the dark background Jock well done mate. With the 8 mp you have on the pro1 you can just crop around the birch trees leaving the sky & shadow out if you want. Great light mate:-)

Thanks RK, I can see what you mean about the sky, it was something that did worry me a bit. I did try to get as little sky as possible but the terrain meant it wasn't possible. :-( I'm trying a bit of cropping in PS so might change it yet. :-)

On second thought...would crop out the sky at the top and leave the shadow at the bottom. Try scrolling the picture to eliminate the sky...seems very effective....just my thoughts.

Looks like an image out of someones dream...excellent. Not sure about the dark shadow at the bottom.
