The lighting is perfect on the building, highlighting the boards in the window areas. I wish there was a way you could clone out the industrial building in the lower left corner. Otherwise, I think the tilt is okay...maybe a bit less would make it seem a bit more real.

Very nice Mary Anne; I think the tilt works fine with this image for the same reasons you describe yourself.

Lonnit, I agree that I probably wouldn't have shot this on a tilt without the Challenge, but I felt that the tilt is appropriate in this case, sort of signifying the uncertainty of the future of these buildings and the sense of upset of the teachers, students, and parents who were forced to leave these buildings which they loved. And I thought the lighting added the idea that the sun is setting on them, and maybe their end is near. (In the interest of full disclosure, however, I have to admit that this is early morning light.)

Oh boy, another problem shot for me. Such a quiet scene and no reason to tilt it except for challenge requirements. ;) Lovely, rich colors and beautiful softness. The golden glow on the boarded up windows is in such nice contrast to the usual feel of a boarded up building. It's like there's still such life in it. Makes me feel that there is hope for the buildings - that they will soon again, be filled with the energy of people. I like that. Does tilt help convey that feeling? I don't know. Does it counter it? I don't think so. Hmmmm... ok, I'm torn about the tilt. Ummmm.... no, I don't think you would have shot this tilted without the challenge. Really quite lovely feel though. Excellent capture and processing. ~ Lonnit

Jano, I agree about the buildings being too good to be boarded up. There was a great deal of controversy and outcry about the decision by the local bishop to close these Catholic high school buildings and move the school to another location. I think they may be rehabbed into apartments or condos.

The plain building to the left is the post office, and I have to admit that I had seriously considered cropping it out, but I can't get rid of it completely unless I lose much of the left brick building. I think a pile of snow might have prevented me from moving further to the right. I'll take a new look at the crop, though. Thanks for your comments.

Mary Anne - a pleasant surprise in this image - the sunlight coming in from the left really gives this image some "pow". Much too nice of buildings it seems to be boarded up? Not sure what was on the right of the first building, but i wonder if you had backed up some you could have elminated the plain building on the left? jano
