Egad...there are many reasons, why I am here. I started with photography in ~ May this year and that's already the main reason: I want to learn, learn, learn. Therefore, the least thing I do not want is critique - on the contrary. How else can I improve without critique. I want to learn, how things are done (technically, visually). I get a full set of new ideas how to look at "things" every day I visit these galleries and challenges. Another reason is to mail with people, share experiences and visions...and most important: to have a bit of fun - so don't get me wrong, mate.

Some of us thrive on direct & honest critique & little controversies mate. So if you just want praise & youre back slapped then you're better off staying at the Cslr challenge.
Well, up to a few minutes ago I was not aware of the discussion about shadows and (water) reflexions. Actually, I dislike the discussion - but I can imagine what you are referring to. Anyhow, if someone thinks that two of my shots are off topic, simply ask Jano to remove'm. If the host (and/or the majority) agrees, I can live well with it. Yet, this discussion and nit-picking make me loose the fun in participating here.

Hence the problems Armin, to get a reflection you need light on the front of the hand. To get a silhouette you need light on the back of the hand. So its more of a technical problem than just an opinion of what beauty I find mate.
Well, Rod, a reflected silhouette of a hand in the picture and the shadow of the fingertips grabbing the name?! Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, only.
Jano, thanks for your tip, unfortunately I think I will not make it in time with a
re-shot, since we were off for a few days...but I will definitely try it again later, maybe some more direct light on the hand will do the trick - athough it was already very tricky to hold still for 2s :-)
A more visible silhouette of your hand might bring out your point better Armin. I say use this (great!) idea and try for a better comp - perhaps play with the light a little for the effect you are intending. Again, the idea is growing on me! jano

Is that your hand reflected in the painting Armin? As I don't think reflections are shadows mate:-) The bits of finger shadows at the bottom arent really significant so I don't think they are the point of your shot..................................Are they:-)
