Black dot controversy: I think that this is a seagull or another marine bird, we have lots of them. Here is 1600% magnification of the relevant part of the original frame
That could be a buoy Paul, I think. The overall light tone of the photo contrasts well with the dark boat.

The black spot is in the water on the same plane as the boat. I can make out the house. Follow the heading of the boat for maybe 7 or 8 centimetres to your left and there's a black spot like a piece of fly shit or a dead pixel almost below the white spot of the house. Stands out because of the bright water.
Thanks Paul for appreciation. No, this is not a hot pixel. It is a lonely house about half way up the hill, great view from there too.

The silver light of the water is excellent here and there's a not unpleasant melancholy feel to the lone boat. Great composition.
Is there a rogue pixel 2/3 of the way between the boat and the direction it's heading? I thought it was a bit of grime on my monitor but it's on the photo.
