Oh! Hi Techo, Thanks for clearing it up. And I did not realize till you pointed out that its color on color twice, once for yellow and once for the gray... LOL. -Cat

Hi all :)

Well first congrats on this fine shot, and at iso3200 makes it even more adventures'. I too like the graduation from yellow to gray which I admit wasn't easily apparent at the first viewing but I clearly see it now. As for being on topic. IMHO it is, yellows on yellows on the top and gray on gray on the bottom. I also agree with the others that it's open to interpretation but I definitly don't think this one has a place in pending :)

Thanks you all for comments. I just love this picture and enjoyed taking it and was amazed by the beautiful grey shades from original yellow and blueish noise. I think its rather unique combination of yellow turning to grey which I thought I should share with all of you...To be frank, I too am confused whether its on topic or not. I will let the experts (you all) decide. I am keeping it here per Rod's advice and also I don't have anything else anyway to replace this at this moment. If Techo can give his opinion then it will help in clearing some of the confusion. If he chooses he can put it in pending... or declare it on-topic. Anyway it goes... I am perfectly OK with it. My point was to have fun sharing it with you all and get your feedback. And I have to say I am pleased that you all liked it. -- Cat

A nice photo but I don't get the connection between foreground and background colour. To me yellow is the foreground and a bluish gray noise is the background. If the topic were fade into gray maybe. Just my opinion on the relevance to the topic. I do like the shot.

I can see where this can be on topic as the graduation of the yellow petals into gray actually fade into the gray background well. I think it may just be a matter of interpretation as Rod suggests. I really like the composition and the faded color in this photo works well with the background. jano

The voters or Techo will decide what's on topic Cat's, so leave it here as it's a great shot mate. Unless my monitor hasn't warmed up yet the background now appears grey.

Guys,
I have just color profiled my monitor............... I can see the blue-ish tinge you guys are talking about :-( Don't know what to do about it. I guess that means this photo may not be on topic then. --Cat

this photograph is just captivating Photocat. I may have to try and duplicate this for myself some day!

I agree that on my monitor it looks blue. I have to say that iso3200 is quite tolerable. I like the grain in this shot.

Thank you Rod and Gerald. Rod the background I had selected WAS yellow to start with. The lower petals and the backgroud are in very low light. I have studied and observed that in very low light all colours fade to various shades grey. The petals are yellow too, but they too have faded to almost grey, mearging with the background in some places. I agree with you and I do see a tinge in the background on my monitor too, its more of an yellowish+dirty green. Overall the photo has lot of noise as it was shot at iso3200 and the the background shows most of it. May be it appears blue-ish/greenish/yellowish grey due to the noise? I don't know. -Cat

You say "more yellow" Gerald, the background has a bluish tinge on my monitor with no trace of yellow or grey. The foreground colour has to have a similar colouring as the background. I do agree the shot is very well composed..........tack sharp even:-)

Regardless of whether the background should be more yellow or not (at least, the outer petals fade to almost grey): This is a wonderful picture, tack sharp and well composed. -Gerald

I think you might need a yellow background to make this on topic Cats:-)
