Thanks everyone for your great comments on this. I tried to work with the barrel distortion on this but I have an old version of Photoshop (4) and it doesn't offer that process, at least as far as I could tell. I would like to try it in b&w and adding grain sounds like it would make it more interesting but I will not have time to do that today before the end of the challenge. I do appreciate all the comments! ~Sharon

Good one! Do correct the barrel distortion though. This would work well in sepia with some grain too, or even just adding some grain to this b/c it's such a 'clean' shot of aged materials. ~ Lonnit

Good shot, great for the challenge theme. I like the curiosity and the texture of the wood. Might also make a great B & W shot. The image needs distortion treatment, obiously and is not hard to accomplish in Photoshop and most other full fledge image programs. Markjay

Excellent. The theme is spot on and i love the textures of the timber here.

Wonderfully executed. My first thought when thinking of the challenge was something like this.

Thanks, Cat! I hadn't noticed the "learn" section of dp review before, there looks to be lots of stuff there I can use! ~Sharon

nicely done elips. i think this definitely fits the topic. i'd also be interested in knowing how to correct the barrel distortion (i think that`s what you call it). - andrew

I like this one, Sharon, curves or not. The worn paint/wood adds an air of mystery.

Thanks, Yvonne! The curve is caused by the 17mm wide angle part of my lens. I like it too as it makes the spy looked spied upon. However, I did try to adjust it to make the lines straight but I couldn't figure out how to do it in my old version of Photoshop (4). Just so I know for the future, does anyone have any hints on how this might be done? ~Sharon

Elips, This is such a true statement of curiosity. (or is it nosey?) In any case, a really good entry. I like how it seems curved. Yvonne
