"Nothing you did?" Well, it looks like the shot was just waiting for you! LOL Shu

Thank you, Yvonne and Shu. I can tell you that the color of those shoes is not due to anything I did...just the way the light was hitting them on that cold day.

Wow Mary Anne! A real stunner! (Looks like somebody standing there to me. I don't need to see any more to understand these feet belong to someone!) The two colors on the shoes are a nice touch and fit in beautifully with the other colors on the cover. A real winner! Shu

Lonnit and Rod, I had to do the whole thing over again and in the process of cropping to size, I lost the bit of jeans and then forgot to include the word at the top. With the program I'm using (not PSE, which I still can't figure out for adding text), I can't change anything after I've saved it. Or maybe someone else could, but I don't know how. Those are my boots, as I was standing on the edge of a footbridge looking down. I probably should have put my bare feet next to the boots to really illustrate the title. LOL.

Maybe it's just that I like viewing edgy shots but I liked the bit of the jeans in the shot. At least with the jeans we knew a person was standing there & not just a pair of shoes left out on the veranda.

Thank you Mary Anne. The text looks much better now. Did you replace the right shoe? It is brighter than it used to be. At first I didn't really think that mattered much, but now I am finding the brightness in the lower left corner to be a distraction. Can you get that a bit darker like it originally was? BTW, I am VERY happy you cropped a smidge more to remove that blue from the leg which was distracting but I didn't want to conk you over the head for it! LOL! Was it intentional that you removed the text from the upper left corner? It's not a necessity, but I wanted to point it out just incase it was accidentally left off during the editing process. Excellent shot! ~ Lonnit

Lonnit, I couldn't use the eyedropper tool because I wasn't working in PSE...couldn't figure out how to add text. However, I was able to play around with the color of the text in my Image Expert program and managed to darken it and add some texture. I appreciate your positive remarks, as I'm most impressed with the ones you've submitted here. I see your comments as high praise indeed.

Looks very good. As for the text, just sample around with the eyedropper tool in different areas of the image until you find a color that gives good contast. As long as you use colors that are found in the image, it will look pulled together. You could try the brown from the leaf just above the 'ol' in 'cold', or any of the blacks or browns that fall in between that leaf and the one above it. You could also try the darks from in between the planks. Great shot for a cover! ~ Lonnit

Thanks for your comments.

Abs, I'm also not satisfied with the color of the title. It's as close as I could get to the "right" shade. It would probably help if I read the instructions for the software instead of just muddling my way through. LOL!

Rod, I finally had to resort to Microsoft's Picture It software, as I couldn't figure out how to add text in PSE. Some extra steps are required in saving it (reformatting, for example), but it's somewhat easier...and naturally lacking some (maybe a lot) of the control you get with PSE. One of these days I should sit down and really try to learn that program.

Typical girl, makes out she doesn't know how to do fonts get's us all feeling sorry for her & then posts a stunner like this. This actually looks like an album cover. I disagree with Abs if you make the font the same colour as the leaves we won't be able to read the font clearly. There may be a better colour for the font but it must stand out from the background not just look pretty but unreadable.
