Really nicely toned and great composition.

I like this image. I guess you used B&W to mask an uninspiring sky? Great perspective

This is a classic image but why black and white? Wonderful composition and although bucolic and serene i get a sense of drama from it.

Like to see it in colour

Really like this picture. A little harsh but has real character to it. - RK

It was hard for me to remember the original shot. Then I see my comment on it, and I did remember. We shouldn't change the pics... maybe placing it on pending...

Andy, this is a great shot... I like it very much. I wold like to see such a landscape to try it... but it has a certain Adams look... well done.

This is head and shoulders above your previous attempts which were, now I can say it, quite below your usual standard
Rod 14-Jun-2005 19:42
Yes Andy is starting to warm up, this is a terrific shot & still in keeping with his harsher style. In fact we have the best of both worlds a harsher foreground with sort of romantic top half. Which helps to make this shot really work for me? I love it mate, a top shot.

From the comments, I see that I have missed your first post. If this is the imporved version/or replaced (the date is 14th) I like it the way it is now. -Cat

you did good job in getting the tree-details back, Andy. now its amazing how a viewer can feel clouds because of their shadow between grass and trees. i like this version a lot better. -Abstract
ctfchallenge14-Jun-2005 18:32
Abstract, i agree about the dark area, Im going to try and get back a bit of detail. Thanks for looking.

The previous three versin were of the same field being cut with the tractor being followed by egrets. Unfortunately it was my first outing with that lens and to be honest it is a piece of junk. Anyhow, a return to the scene and the grass is all bailed. I set ut to get a b&w shot and this was a first for me. If i ever develop a signature shot, i hope this would be the sort.

I missed the original. But like this one.

now this is called an artsy-photograph. awesome! -Abstract
ps: tree area on top right is on a bit dark-side for my taste (complete black, no details) but the grass-roll exposure is perfect. i like the harsh contrast too.

The original version was better, all it needed was an increase in contrast and brighteness. I agree with what Ioana said. ( There was a whole lot more in the orginal than most of us realized.) Shu

I imagine that you have made different cuts of this, but have you tried to leave a bit more space in the front of the tractor?
Rod 11-Jun-2005 03:28
Geez wot a tough crowd, the shot must be good to have a frame on it, init.
Guest 11-Jun-2005 02:44
Nice, really... but I would like to see some sky... but that's me, of course...
Guest 10-Jun-2005 23:10
Andy, I liked the crop in the previous one better, the lines going into the picture gave it depth and added to the feeling of peace. I think this shot can take all the saturation you can add to it (it's blue on green, how can you go wrong with it?)

Yep, i made a conscious effort to against my own instincts and not to up the tempo. Didnt feel right. Version 2 is another i worked on earlier with a bit more zap.

Yes, a definite need for more saturation. The birds make the shot. ~ Lonnit

Andy-I think this image needs a a brightness and contrast adjustment as it looks a bit flat. Play up the blue, too. It's a scene many of us are familiar with and very much to my liking .As a child, I lived in the country and just loved the smell of fresh mowed grass. Shu
