Carroll Street Cafe *

Atlanta, Georgia USA

This is one of the interesting new eateries in the Cabbagetown neighborhood of Atlanta. The building reflected in the window is one of three adjoining old apartment buildings or boarding houses, all now renovated and each painted a different bright color.

Ioana, me comments are about a previous shot of Mary Anne's not this one. I don't know why Mary Anne keeps changing them it's really hard to keep up:-)

Rod, mate, you're one hard to please dude! I don't find it too bright, and I love the vibrant colors. The only distracting thing is the light fixture you can see through the window that creates a hotspot, but it's not like she could go in and tell them "excuse me, could you please close your drapes for a second so I could take a picture of the house across the street reflected in your window?".

Rod, I should have said that the colors in the other one were just as they came from the camera, but I almost always have to do some sharpening, cropping, etc. As far as this shot or the other one goes, I guess I'll just have to wait till the next time I'm in Atlanta. It's a 2 1/2 hour flight from here, about 1,000 miles, so it's not as if I can just drive by and re-shoot the scene.

Yes I think for this topic this shot is better, but the other shot had more potential as a photo........If that makes any sense:-)
You say that's how the other one was straight from the camera, don't you use any post processing software Mary Anne?

Rod, I know it's bright, but that's the way it came from the camera. I knew that white post was problematic but couldn't figure out any way to deal with it. I'm replacing it with a single window with the offending frame cropped out. Any better?

Can this be toned down to a similar look as your front porch shot? It's not over exposed but is a bit bright for me. If you have PS then a pull down on the curves tool or in levels might do the trick. The white vertical wood between to two blue windows is too white & divides the shot in two. I still like the shot but:-)
