Sharon, welcome to the challenge - great picture to start off with! The more I look at it the more I want to just fly through that window toward your blue haven with fluffy white clouds. Well done!

Very good. It seems more than a bowl, like a secret passage

Thanks, this is noticably better. I was just out walking the dog and what attracts me to this shot came to me as i was in my own world with the mutt running off chasing the rabbits. This really reminds of being a kid and spending seemingly endless summer days lying on the grass watching the clouds and making shapes out of them. It's just got a great mood to it.

Prefer this pucture.

Thanks, Paul! I agree with you here's the original back again. However, it has been fun playing with the image and I am here to learn. Sharon

Before you go Sharon just replace this with the original as it works much better.

You can't please everbody all the time eh? :>)

Thanks, everyone, for your nice comments and helpful advice. I really appreciate it. I have tried the crop and updated the image. Perhaps I should have left it at the original size. Now it seems way too big and those water drops on the edges even more distracting. Unfortunately, I will be away for the weekend and will probably not have a chance to reshoot before Monday so they will have to stay. I originally thought I would leave them to indicate that there is actually water in the bowl, that the clouds are not painted on it. Thanks again! Sharon

Elips, this isa great concept, in terms of the theme and the colors represented in this picure. This is my (*) 2 cent take on this...
- the sharp background is (lawn, grass) distracting.
- I would elevate the water bowl and blur the background a bit (not too much).
- Would use a differnt colored bowl (preferably a neutral colored) to bring out the sky.

Have you changed this? It now looks too big to me, try resizing to 600 or 650 across and make sure you use the USM after resizing so you don't lose any sharpness. The other one drew me down into the photo and then into the sky which is a bit of a paradox really. This one feels as if it's right in my face and it's clearly just a bowl on the lawn.
If you haven't changed anything then feel free to call me an idiot

I agree with all comments, and would also crop just a tad bit more. Simplistic reflection! jano

So simple, yet so great! Beauty and innocence is written all over it.

Excellent job elips.

Cool idea. (*) If you are able to shot again, i would clean the edges of the bowl. They add to a distraction and take away from the simple aspect of the shot.

It's always a simple shot done well that have an impact, & this is a simple shot done well:-) Well done Sharon & welcome to the challenges.

Thanks, Pfehlauer & Paul, Yes, I am a newbie in every sense of the word. New to this challenge and new to my camera. I have used point-and-shoots making slides for a long time. A digital slr takes some getting used to. I tried a square crop on this but that somehow made the bowl seem less bowl like. Perhaps I will try taking just a bit off the edges. Thanks for your help! Sharon

Excellent! What a cool idea... as for the *, I would crop a little bit, less gras, more sky... btw, are you new to this challenges? if so, welcome...

Very simple idea and it works very well. If you stare at the bowl you feel yourself being drawn in as if it's a window on another world rather than just a reflection of the sky. The colour of the bowl is such a good match too. Very well done.
