Rod, Paul asked for ambiguity so I just verbally created some mystery to the photo, which I thought was a great suggestion on Paul's part so I thought it would be fun to elaborate a tad. I'm surprised you still remember the Morning Box shot... but unfortunately I don't think it fits this challenge subject very well- LOL (maybe you have other reasons for me posting it though?) :) jstrong

Bleeding L, with all this talk of blood & foul deeds J you may as well post your shower scene shot from the box challenge..........Just say you were drinking the shower water:-)

Much better title. I'm really torn between the colour and b+w though and think i'm leaning towards the colour one you've got in Exhibition. The blood red with this version against the b+w gives it a somewhat sinister feel that i like a lot. But..the colour versions blood is even redder and there's a fabulous splash of blood/wine on the bottom of the table top that juts out that is missing in this one. That splash gives it menace as if it could be a violent murder scene or violence in another way in the collapse of the drinker in a rather sudden way. That last bottle was 1 over the 8:>) Either way i'm very impressed with all the moods and ambiguities both shots have.

Assuming that I passed out, and with the way my hand fell at the moment of collapse, the glass rolled toward the body, which would explain the drops dropping at the angle they are. But there is always the possibility that an even darker havoc occurred, in which case the mystery of the wayward falling drops might be a case for CSI: ?? jstrong

I think you've done a wonderful job of capturing the drops. It is a bit odd to see them move, especially as Andy mention, due to the glass rolling, which I would think would move in the opposite direction of the hand off the fingers. I personally like partial desaturation in some shots. I think it works well here. I need to go over to exhibition and see the full color version.

So, how did you hold the camera and shoot while knocked out in a drunken stupor? I haven't been able to master that art yet! LOL dorys

Re: the drops. This is one of the great things about this shot. Ive already commented on the colour version and much prefer it. The drops are at angle because the glass is rolling/sliding and this sense of movement gives this image that third dimension.

Good eye Mayanne, but I checked the original and indeed the drops are flowing at an angle. Guess it was the tip of the glass. Considering the glass fell when the "havoc" occurred, I don't know that tidy droplets would have occurred in that instance.

It's a powerful shot and I don't want to be a nit-picker, but...unless a very strong wind was blowing, those drops should be falling straight down, not at an angle. Or should the table be tipped a bit?

Rod and Fly - the color photo can be seen in the exhibition category. I didn't know if I could post both photos in one category or not... I believe I like the color better. Somehow the red didn't come through in this interpretation. jstrong

Waw, this is a great interpretation, and right on topic: effects of drinking (or tiredness, it happend to me...;-) ). Nice catch of the falling wine drops.

Well done. I agree with Rod on the desat though. theFly

This is very good, i nearly overlooked it from the thumbnail. It could be death, or drunkeness. Cab Sauv or blood.

Just as i was about to hit 'add comment' i noticed the title of the photo, this takes away the ambiguity of the shot and suggests only drunkeness, could you change it? I like the idea that this could be a hopeless night alone in drunken despair or it could be a murder scene.

Resembles a scene from a Hitchcock movie.
Very nice composition.

Really good idea for a shot & it creates a feel Dorys & I can relate too. What's it look like in colour? You know yucky partial desaturation:-)
