None of the three, alexeig: I am sixty years old and have been retired since January after forty years in journalism (twenty-five of which as foreign correspondent in Spain); and while I try to be as open as possible to cultural influence from all over the world, there is one thing I do feel quite strongly: I am European and—in addition—somewhat «Eurocentric». Sorry I caused a wrong impression ;-) — db.

WOW, 25 years in Spain? This means that I had a totally different idea about you. From your three Madrid pictures in one of the previous challenges I formed an idea that you are a young lad of university age, attracted by everything technological and "kool" and looking to an average American city as an example to follow.

Thanks, aam1234, for clarifying. You're right: I am Swiss, no doubt; but after more than a quarter of a century of living in a Latin country, part of myself must have «acquired» some of the «locale»—in the broadest sense of the word—as well. It's a good thing, IMHO, to be at home in different cultures, as long as you know where you belong... BTW: my grand-parents came from four different European countries, sharing one (Jewish) background. And, yes, I agree, these things may show somehow in one's photography. — db.

Sure. See, normal people have patterns in their photos. Be it the locales or the weather or colors. In your case, you don't have any "locale". One day you are Latin, the other you are swiss. From east to west, so to speak.

In what sense, aam1234? Would you want to elaborate on that...? ;-) — db.
aam1234 18-Mar-2005 18:32
Your photos are starting to make sense now. They always intrigued me.
aam1234 18-Mar-2005 18:29
Now I'm forming a better profile of you db.

She heads the commercial department at an Embassy, offering local know-how to firms of her country doing (or considering to do) business here. — db.

Now I'm curious, who is that lady. No need to mention names, but things she have done and such.
ctfchallenge18-Mar-2005 17:12
aam1234 and alexeig: thanks for commenting! No, alexeig, it's not really *that* candid; it's one of several pictures I took during a business-lunch, one of which will go with a journalistic article I'm writing on this lady and her work. BTW: I love the «EF 50mm f/1.8» for flash-less indoor shots like this one. — db.
alexeig18-Mar-2005 16:38
Or is it candid? I noticed that you used 50 f/1.8
alexeig18-Mar-2005 16:37
Great candid, this one
