Leongatha 1 *

Leongatha, Victoria, Australia

This has been my home town for the majority of my life, and although I don't live there now, like the Peter Allen song 'I still call Leongatha home'. It is the largest town in South Gippsland, a major centre in an important dairying area (I may be a bit biased? - our family have a dairy farm just out of town) As well as dairy cows there are also beef cattle, sheep, potatoes, and more recently those arty farty wine grape things. Leongatha has had an annual daffodil festival. Hence the lovely gardens in the main street in Spring time. This is the post office, with old court house behind. Some years ago Australia Post planned to replace the Post Office with an ugly boxy sort of thing, but fortunately they saw reason and renovated the beautyful old building.
