Well then by all means you very much succeeded! Congratulations b/c you set out to do something a specific way and did it superbly. And yes, that blue background is far superior to what you would have gotten with white, and her glow reflection is gorgeous! Not to mention, you took the comments like the complete gentleman that you are, in the spirit in which they were intended. Kudos on all! ~ Lonnit

Lonnit is a clever girl - yes we named HER when we thought SHE was a HE. You are all right about the background thanks for the comments - for the topic I should have some nice long shadows on a natural background. However that's what everyone else would do. I wanted to try something different -- I aimed to show off her natural beauty with the nice lighting, and without distraction from the background. I tried white, but liked the blue better - at least there's a bit of glow under her belly. Neil

I'm 100% agreement with Lonnit's comments... maybe a natural cloth or canvas background, or something of earthtone colors? The animal itself is nicely photographed. markjay

She looks great (what happened? Named him and then found out he was a she?) but the background is just too stark. A fine shot if it's stock for a reptile catalog, but despite the beautiful light and wonderful DOF and the fine job on everything else, the cold, institutional background doesn't cut it for me for personal enjoyment. But like I said, for a catalog it's a great shot! ~ Lonnit

Nice shot, love the claws... I think the background is too plain to really reflect the theme, seems it needs some shimmering plants or rocks to show it's being lit by sunlight. - Tom

Hi Neil, I like how the colors on Georgie girl match the light blue background. Interesting DOF as it is f/14.
