Couldn't do much about the sphere it was in the line of shot.

WOW, thats great. I am not sure about the sphere in the bottom right angle, though

I let the camera do the metering and I use centre spot focus.

From the thumbnail I saw a human figure formed by the sphere and surrounding fountain. Very nice color, composition and dynamic range...where and how did you meter?

Look how the highlight has been raised off the sphere into a circle. I would like that to be my decision not the expensive lens.

Thanks for verify that Olaf, I was beginning to believe that no one believed me :(

Concerning the star effect, I believe it is unavoidable in a digital camera. The amount of spikes on the star is equal to the amount of blades in the aperture iris... --Olaf.dk

Superb.

Thanks Gayle, there has been very little done to the image except for the usually sharpening and levels.
The fountain is part of a display and sits in an area where the sun streams in early morning and then as it rises above, all the effects are lost, because the sun is above the protective shade sails...........you only get between 7am and 8am(daylight saving) before it's gone.

Great shot, thubleau. I'm sure the highlight was blown in real life too :)

This is beautiful, Eric! I see you got your 20D and can now use your new lens :-)

The blown highlight is actually direct sunlight passing through the glass ball.

I love this one! I like the stars, the......well,.... the whole image. Beautiful in its light, shadow and subtle pinks. Shu

No star filters just natural sunlight caught at the right time of the morning.

this shot is stunning. i'm on the fence as to whether or not i like the star effect on both orbs.
Rod 05-Feb-2005 00:13
I like the tones in this shot. Did you use a star effect filter? For me I would tone down the blown highlight in the top ball a tad. Good shot.
