Thanks Tom.

I thought it was an atomic bomb going off, and it was absorbing the sun... so it looks on topic to me... just needs a different title.... something like the "24"th hour (if you've been watching the series) :o) -Tom

Just my two cents... I think the challenge states / requests that we NOT present an image where the sunset ITSELF is the subject. Looks like a sunset to me but, the voters are the ultimate judges, not me :-)

Unfortunately, the upper portion of the image looks quite natural, the lower portion because of it's unusual color does not appear natural.... with that upper sunset portion.
This is not the photographers' fault entirely, I've photographed many sunsets and have run across a few like this as a final out of camera image. Markjay

And the clone tool to get rid of the sun:-)

In that case I find the sun a distraction:-)

Hi uncle Rod. The subject of the photo is the blue sea and the reflection from the sun rise ;)

This is a very good sunset shot with the effect under the sun working really well, I don't know if Brian is just being polite but this definitely looks off topic to me.

Thanks Dorys, glad you liked it. Brian, you have no idea how much I struggle with leveling the horizon. Seems no matter how hard I try, photos always title to the right :( Thanks for your comment.

This is really a very well done photograph. I have two comments to make. 1) I would level the horizon by rotating the photograph by ~0.5 degrees counterclockwise and 2) I’ve been debating if this one boarders on being off topic as the challenge criteria requests that you not focus on sunrises or sunsets themselves. One could argue that it may indeed be on topic since a significant portion of the photograph involves the water as well as the sun rays adherence to the water (making it appear that it’s rising from the water). I’ll leave this one up to the voters. Again nice work! Brian
