Enduring Love *

These photos span 70 years. I'd staged and took the second picture at my father's request last year. I don't know if it counts as one or two entries, though :-) Originally placed one above the other. Had the "double exposure" idea for some time, but only done it now.

I look forward to seeing how you place the images. But I'm thinking the transparency is the more powerful technique. Now, if you want to be more subtle, and get away from the memory image, take the old picture, put it in a little frame, and hang it on the wall. Hmmm ... you could have a whole series here. - Walt

Thank you Walt! I'm working on another version (still learning how to use layers), where the old photo is in the background and does not show through the front faces, like Mary Anne suggested. Then it looks like the new photo in taken in front of a projected old film... I'll post that when finished.

A powerful composition, Oved, well posed and constructed. But I agree with Mary Anne that the white shirts on the old image are are too distracting. Perhaps you could select those white areas and dim them down until they don't dominate.
Yes, of course the old image seems a memory of the past. What other idea would you like to convey? - Walt

Thanks, Mary Anne, for commenting. I'll test your idea too. Actually, I took the easy way mearging the images, but once I saw it, it did looked to me like the old image seems as a memory of the past, projecting from the heads. What do you think?

Oved, I like the concept, but I think that making the more recent image semi-transparent lets the white clothing from the old one show through too much, so that it's difficult to see their faces. Why not just put the older image behind them as you've done here, but don't let anything show through. Maybe make the background image a little larger as well. Am I making any sense?
