Just came back to enjoy it. I feel a sense of cleansing, a fresh beginning, a ray of sunshine, a rebirth, a cleansing of the soul, freedom from one's past, hope for the future, a brighter future, the burden of the past is left behind, freshness and joy, freedom, purification, reclaiming of a life looking forward to tomorrow.

I don't care where the water came from, the photo is fabulous!!!! ~ Lonnit

The rain creates an impressionistic image. Beautiful! Shu

Dorys, I considered not putting in the part about the hose for the very reason you cited, but so many people have asked how I got the image that I felt compelled to share the method. Just don't tell any non-photographers out there. ;-))

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Superb!!! Of course the tatoo bothered me at first as well, but after hearing the story I see why it does belong. Just wonderful. Congrats! ~ Lonnit

very very very very...cool. i loved the story but knowing it's a hose and not natural rain was kind'of a buzzkill for me. edit that part out of your comments and i'll be happy again. :-)

Rod, Mattias, and aam, I appreciate your comments and suggestions. This photo is one of a series I shot for a Twelve-Step calendar for women in recovery, and the models were all women in the program (hence, the tattoo...they have not had easy lives). This one is illustrating Step 7: We humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings.

I really wanted to submit another one of a woman looking through a window from a rather shabby darkened room, but I don't have permission to use her face here. I never would have gotten this shot without a digital camera, as I kept playing around with settings until I got the effect I wanted. It was a windy somewhat cool day, and I had to work quickly before my two good-natured models got too chilled. This photo was shot at 7.1 at 1/250 sec. We dragged out a garden hose until I found a dark background where the sun could still catch the drops of water.

Wonderful shot, and good title! May I ask what shutter speed you used to get this cool effect? I've tried to get cool shots of running water, but I'm not patient enough to play around and try many different settings for the same shot. Maybe it's got more to do with me being lazy than being patient, actually :)

Wow, wow, & bleeding wow this is an awesome shot................almost:-) I know the subject is framing but when I cropped out the right vertical window frame the shot had more power for me. You have a real rapport with these girls Mary Anne. It's like she's trying to wash all her troubles away. Beautiful.

WOOW Mary Anne. This is a powerful photo!

(I'm not a big fan of tattoos, but that's irrelevant I guess).
