Just want to mention to all you voters who might be reading this, don't have the monitor brightness way on low ;-) you won't see what was meant to be seen.

Oye bugger off Lonnit, when did you join the border police?:-)

Lovely image. That white line should be toned way down though, to match the color of the trees, otherwise it is overwhelming. I bet it would look good as a BW too with a little boost in contrast. Nice job. ~ LOnnit

Changed my mind:-) upon going back to this shot after posting there's enough detail in the dark area. It must have been the thin white line around the shot that drew my eye:-)

Strange really, crop out the grass & there's not much there, crop out the trees & there's not much there. But together there's definitely something there. Well done on an excellent shot. On my monitor just a tad more graduation of tone in the dark area would be nice.

Me, too! Beautiful image. It's the line of trees in shadow that makes this image one of a kind. Shu

Jakob, I hope you'll leave it dark, I love it. Tomas

Jaro, Complex or not, this is one very nice image. Mark

Thanks for all your comments :) Maybe the dark trees are really a little bit to dark, at least for this contest or the usual screen. but the details are there and the image lives from the darkness, it is or should be a so called lowkey picture.
As the picture is shot in camera raw, it wouldn't be necessary to shot again, I just would had to do some postprocessing and all is done :)

I love the look of the evenly cut grass against such a dense forest scene and how all the trees are so alike, in spacing and in height. But I agree with the others, the midportion of the photo is a tad too dark just for the purpose of this challenge. Best would be to go back and reshoot http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/digital-blending.shtml), or use some selective levels and/or shadows/highlights dialog settings but detail will be lost.

I think that some of the possible complexity of the picture is lost by the really dark center. theFly

How I wish to see this in large print... The grass must be gorgeous. And the tree details.. Oh, do I repeat myself? Tomas

Jaro, I thought I understood the complex idea, but it seemed the simplicity prevailed. Well, don't care about my silly thoughts, I'm happy you shared this piece of art. Tomas

It's an absolutely beautiful image whatever way you look at it though. I wish I could find a scene like this near me!
jaro15-Nov-2004 12:38
Tomas, i thought the trees shows the complexity but the image as a hole stands for the opposite...in my eyes its both in one picture :-)

Not sure if this is complicated or intricate. But Lee wanted an open challenge so he has it :-). Intricate or not, this is beautiful. Although the trees are dark, there are still details visible and I'm sure this would be great as a large print. Tomas
