Flower Carpet

Brussels

As if the Grand Place in Brussels - one of the world's most beautiful squares was not spectacular enough, every two years the Belgians cover it with a huge carpet of flowers.
The enterprise involves considerable time and effort, when you think that over 1800 square metres have to be covered with a massive 800,000 fresh begonias.
This flower carpet is usually planned for the second weekend of August and lasts for four days. The next one will probably be at 2006.

Striking image! With the multitudes of people, gardens and intrigate structures, it's
the epitome of complexity. Shu

That is right, it was a partly overcast day which is the ideal for that kind of shots.
In order to get it exposed the way I wanted with no shadows at all, I had to wait for the sun to completely hide behind a cloud. -- Moti

It looks to me to be an overcast day, the very best weather for colour saturation & a range of tones that silly digital can handle:-) Lovely looking shot.
