Rod: Thanks, I had the luxury of having the spider in my garden in such a position that I could setup my tripod. But the Sun was high in the sky, hence the blown highlight. It didn't help that the spider was kind of silvery.

By the way, one thing I really like about this picture is that you can see details of the spider's feet -- how it is holding onto the web. I normally don't see this in spider pictures. -- Victor

LOL I was worried that nobody would rise to the bait! As Victor points out, a spider is not an insect, so it is technically on topic :) Now if you would have said "bugs"...

Now here is a good reason why I don't think insects should be excluded (even though this is not an insect). This picture is very nostalgic for me. It brings me back immediately to my second home in Guatemala. I love these spiders. We called them run-away spiders because at the slightest hint of a thread, they run away from the middle of their orb web to some hiding place. -- Victor

Looks more "insect" than "garden" to me. Are the rules more relaxed in exhibition? Great shot though!
