This is part of a mola panel. The mola is a complex reverse appliqué tecnhique that Kuna Women use to embellish their trditional dresses.

Thanks both! Yes, the molas are very colorful. In fact, if there's a Kuna woman anywhere near, you can't miss her, the also use colorful skirts made from a single piece of cloth wrapped over, much like a sarong, but only from the waist down (to the half leg).
