A tip: Select the ball using maybe the magnetic lasso. After that, make a new layer via copy so that the new layer only has the ball. Now you can apply in the original layer the clone tool to your heart's desire, without fear of deleting any part of the ball.
thanks for the ideas, I really appreciate them. I really just pulled it off the external drive ( unfortunately there is no more of the original shot to the right)and had to crop out a player's arm to her left to meet the vertical requirements. Yes this ball has just come off her head and is actually headed in the right direction. I don't think this is a winner, so I probably won't make adjustments. Funny I hadn't even noticed the line behing the ball, but now it is driving me a little crazy. This is actually one of my first digital shots with a borrowed camera and I loved the way she was all extended. I am still getting my feet wet in post processing, but can see how many evils can be fixed with it.

Interesting. If i'm as bad as this in PP i wouldn't put a ball at all.
Interesting. In postprocessing I'd move the ball more to the right, so it fell on the imaginary curve formed by the girl. And crop the left of the image. Postprocessing is cool.

Since I'm known to do a bit of post processing here and there all I have to say is that I would have moved the ball more to the center or to the left of center and eliminated the vertical line behind it. Nice capture.

Have to ask, is that the ball she actually hit with her head. If yes, then it is eye catching.
