Neil, Only one banana, LOL. The flashlight uses only 2 AA batteries. Rock Candy is simply sugar crystals, yes, you can eat them. In this case they were on a stick (cloned out) and died purple. I also shot some green, red and light blue rock candy but they didn't even come close to the purple.

The lighting looks great, how many bananas did you use? What is rock candy, can you eat it?

That's one of the reasons I want a DSLR. The G3 goes only to f/8. I think the day is nearer too. But we're getting too close to Photokina...

When the camera is close to the subject there is very little depth of field. I wanted as much of the crystal in focus a possible so I went with the high f stop. Shutter speed was a function of of that. I shot this in aperature priority.

This came out very well. I am a bit curious why you decided to use such "extreme" aperture/shutter speed

Great light and detail. 30 seconds at F20. Wow! I want a DSLR. Are you also going to enter this one in the DSLR rock challenge? theFly

great lighting. I love rock candy and can't ever pass up buying it. the color is so rich and just pops out from the black background.

Pops,
I really like how this came out. It simply sparkels being backlit.
