Dark-eyed Junco (male)

I was glad that I had the protection of my blind - it was late October, cold and started to snow, the wind was blowing, I waited for quite some time before I got this shot with the bird turning my way and I am so pleased that the beachtree leaves provided such lovely background color...

Canon EOS 1Ds
1/250s f/4.0 at 420.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Love the way the shallow DOF isolates the bird and branches.

Great as always. I love the DOF and the framing of this picture. theFly

I saw this and thought how wonderfully professional looking it is, like a box of those nice, blank, nature greeting cards, and my stomach just twisted when I saw it was you again Bee! Of course, it had to be you. You are the best animal photog here! I don't think anyone can deny that. When I look at stuff this good, it hurts. It just makes me cry, "I want to be able to do that!!!". I'm so utterly jealous. ~ Lonnit
