Killing Time (*)

Embera Drua

I have replaced the Sunset Over the Canal image. I totally forgot about this one that I like very much. The guy is a member of the Embera Drua people, one of the different Native American people that live in Panama. He was waiting for us to board the dugout, and while we decided to do so, he started carving a piece of cocobolo hardwood, which is a kind of rosewood considered one of the finest in the world.

At the moment of taking this picture, I placed the guy on the right third. I liked the pic but until today hadn't realized that the dugout also follows one of the golden mean diagonals (at least I think so). You see, I'm still striving to learn composition. Please comment on that.

Thanks for your words, Gayle. Due to my job, I have the oportunity to do a lot of internal traveling. In fact, tomorrow (Tuesday) I'll be doing a short 3-day trip to the interior provinces and although I do not expect to get into the native areas, I'll take my camera with me ;o)

This is the type of photo I would like to have the opportunity to take. Excellent "National Geographic" type image....it tells a story without words and shows a small piece of another culture. I like this ver much.

Thanks flowersand, the trip itself was really good. The dugout was rather large and stable. We went thru a river to get to the community and back and had some great views, but the light wasn't good enough to get the pics right. Nonetheless, I got at least some good pics at that village, which you can see at:http://nugar.com/gallery/

I like this one. The colors are vivid (and complementary, I think), and there is a nice balance in the composition. How was the trip in the dugout? --flowersand

Thanks for the comment about the sunset, Bee. That picture indeed prints beautiful and looks great on my office's wall. I remembered the new image that I uploaded above though, which I think is better that the sunset's...

Lovely sunset, Nugar... I like how the clouds zoom out towards the spectator - must look good on a wall...Bee
