Sweater (*)

Picture of my fuzzy/soft Christmas sweater. Wanted to see if my A80 could pick up on the fibers. Btw - I hung my sweater over the door and this shot is a close up of the bottom of the sleeve that was hanging down.

I second the motion. This is much better now that it is sharper. I love the fuzzy warm feel of it. This time of year I want one of these all the time. ;) Ann

Looks much better, Briana! The first pass with USM increases the contrast and adds some depth to a "flat" image, the second one sharpens and "polishes" the image. It doesn't work for all photos, particularly portraits but it works very well on others.

Thanks for your help/suggestions Gayle! :) How does the picture look now? I went slightly above the numbers you suggested on the 2nd pass because the fibers still didn't look quite sharp enough - did I go overboard? By the way - what is the reason to do unsharpen mask over 2 passes? Is there some benefit to doing this? Thanks again, bri070102

Briana, if you have Photoshop, try two passes of unsharp mask. First pass 20,40,0 second pass 120,0.4,0. I think you'll find those fibres come to life.
