This is the California State Capitol. The scoffolding around the
dome has been in place for years now as they continue a painstaking
renovation of the building, both inside and out. The flags out front are
being flown at half-mast and I think they've been flying that way ever since
the September 11 terrorist attacks. The temporary fence in front of the
entrance appeared shortly after the attacks as well. Although it's hard to
tell from the picture, I actually took this picture from quite a distance at
full zoom. Beyond the fountain and roses in the foreground is a traffic
roundabout and a cross street as well as a large lawn where they erect the
State Christmas Tree every December.
