This picture was taken in July of 2002 in Waterton National Park in Alberta, Canada (it's right on the Alberta/Montana border). I crept up on this fox as it was enjoying the sunny day. I was within about 20 feet of him when I took the picture. I love his big bushy tail that's bigger than his legs!
