Nicely shot, Rod. I especially like the mixed textures and colors on the shed.

Thanks Jano & Tommy:-) I took a few picys in this general area & for my first picy here I let the camera do all the exposure choosing in AV mode. I then have a look at it on my LCD screen to see how bright or dark it is, so say I want it darker I use the wheel on the back of the camera to lesson the exposure by about one stop & take another picy. If that looks near enough then I shoot all my picys in the same area with the minus one stop, providing of course I haven't gone from sunlight into full shade. Before I found out the back wheel can control the exposure without altering the shutter speed & Fstop I used to just take a reading by having about 2/3 of sky in the viewfinder then lock the exposure recompose & shoot.
I suppose this is a really long way round to answer your question:-) So yes I did take a test picy:-)

Manly Gray building with blue bg follows the girly blue building with gray bg. Planned? hehe. Good contrast and controlled exposure for a jpeg. The light (or your camera) defies the old f/16 sunlight rule. This should be underexposed a bit at 1/1000 at f/8 with so little ambient reflection but it's not. Did you take test shots before arriving at this setting? -tv

Yes... the composition, with the blocks of elements, works really well. I like it.

Thanks Suey & Dougy:-) Yes Suey the shed looks knackered a, I should have titled this a Self Portrait:-)Maybe our next camera upgrade will have the vibrance thingy, we should tell the missus it has anyway:-)

The exposure, color, contrast, etc. that we are always trying to perfect to make an image pop is accomplished here, right in camera. It all takes a a back seat to the composition for me though. This picture has great lines (the river and wood shed) and perfect balance (the clouds) all contributing to composition. Too bad our cameras don't have a vibrance setting because it could stand for just a little more. -Doug

That shed sure shows it's age and what's it been thru.
