I've been conflicted about the topic "Flat" light and finally decided that we can't deny the opportunity of using the "flat" light in ways that create an attractive, well-lighted image. This makes the point very well. -tv

This is an excellent shot, but as per the previous comments, I think the lighting is such a strong component of the image, I question whether it is on topic.

I would call this excellent light and captured very well. The diffused yet somewhat directional light shining into a dark barn looks marvelous. Very nicely done. -Doug

Maybe low light was what you had in mind. And you did a great job with this picture. Penny Street

Don't worry about your comment, John. We're just all trying to learn from each other here.

I suppose instead of thinking of "Flat Light" we may be better off thinking of Overcast light, then the shadows wouldn't matter a. Itsa a nice picy anyhow.

You know, I debated whether or not to submit this shot because of the appearance of the shadows. However, I had ducked into this old barn because it started raining kind of heavily, so even though the light is directional (through the window) I considered it to be flat. I think we need to talk about this topic more in the general discussion thread, as I might be misunderstanding what is meant by "flat light." I always thought that the lack of clearly defined shadows indicated flat light.

Close call on whether the shadow cast by the jar and wood make this in the flat light category. -John
