You are right about the bright light and color. However, bright sunlight gives you shadow and shadow is what you need to see depth and layers. So many of the canyon ridges blend in and shadow separates them ... last year I read up on what might save these pictures and found that detailing every other ridge with either enhanced contrast or sharpening might do the trick. I didn't do too many since it was a lot of work but I was pleased with the results. This is one that I was pleased with ... if you look carefully at a bigger representation on black you will see that every so often a downward running ridge will stand out a little better and draw you in toward the back of the photo.
You know, the more I look at this photo, the more I think that you never could have gotten so much detail under anything except flat light, as strong shadows would have obliterated parts of the image. Very well seen and shot, John.
