2nd Place - After the rain has gone - NY Narrows - by Techo

Being at the right place at the right time. One of the most beautiful sunsets I've seen. This Summer has been quite special. I only took a few shots from this vantage point. The light started to change quickly when I arrived. Wish I took a few more frames to stack the shot for better IQ.

Techo - I think I would have the same problem there - more sky ? more land ? anything is so amazing. What about the crop - I moved the picture up & down on the screen hiding it under other windows and the first impression was that an another crop - with the horizon on one/third - could work better. But who knows. Sometimes you re-crop only to see that the first version was the best one.

Thanks for the great comment, K9 ;)

I was split between including more sky or more land, so I guess it shows with the shot being split. I definitely wanted more land but the sky was awesome. I do miss that wide angle from my last vacation. I could've dont better in this instance for sure , by staying and exploring more compositions in the spot where I stood instead of running to the water. A postcard for me is mostly a memory of the place I've been. With the bridge beeing so small in the shot it isn't as iconic as I would've liked but this area is a little secret place in NY. At least I like to think so ;)

If we understand Postcard as something inviting - then this photo is far away from the topic. But this is a stunning image! I love sunset photography and was always fascinated by color-show presented by mother-nature. This photo is one of splendid examples of such a show. May be I would cat a bit from bottom to have a bit more from the sky. or vice versa show more from this interesting background - in any case not to keep the horizon line on the middle of the picture.

Thanks for the kind comments! I sometimes become a bit jaded about a shot after editing it. I tried making it look as close to what I saw in person. Not much work was needed but tried to show the detail in the resized version and keep noise down in the overall shot. Need to print this one for my wall.

Jaw dropping spectacular Techo. I really like the burnt corners at the bottom and how they give us tunnel vision right into the image. -Doug
