Sorry for being late on a response but it's been a couple days since I jumped into pBase. I'll take some pictures so look for them in the CTF thread. -Doug

Thanks Doug:-) Wow a Kay bass, could you post a picy of it so I can show Josh as he loves old instruments. He's currently using a 1971 Gibson Les Paul bass for his bass gigs. I will get a picy of it to post.

And I thought my 1962 Kay bass was old. I'm a fan of acoustic instrument and as such I find this quite appealing. -Doug

Thanks Brent:-)
I didn't believe it could be that old as it wasn't silly expensive but we looked on the net & everything checks out. The desirable violins were from Italy during that time even though the French bloke that made this had a reasonable name & they're not so hard to get on the net. Josh took it to a violin maker to have it repaired & the bloke was sceptical too but Josh said the bloke was visibly shaken when he heard the tone when he played it. It only cost Josh $500 for the repair & the violin plays nicely now although it's not a collectors piece as it's been refinished in the past & the repairs devalue it too. The holy grail era for electric guitars is around the 1950s & 1960s you can pay many $100,000s for original ones, refinished ones are great to play but not to collect. Josh has a 1971 reissue of a 1950s gold top Les Paul that he only paid $2000 for but it has been refinished, otherwise it would be about $50000....gulp:-)

Very elegant and classic looking image Rod with great warm tones. I'm amazed at the age of that thing!

Thanks Carole & Tommy:-) I can do great cat impersonations onit:-) This belongs to Josh it was made in France in 1720 (not the bow) From our research the label inside looks very genuine. It has a great tone but we haven't heard a Stradivarius to compare:-) The background is our ole dining room table made of Queensland maple.

Nice composition and tones Rod. This has a very warm, comfortable feel to it. Do you play the violin too among your many talents? :-) CJ

Admirable study in the combination of short-telecompression and controlled DOD impossible without long exposure. My departed and much admired father-in-law viola/violin player would have loved it. On his behalf, I love it too. The lackered wood bg fits the violin and bow perfectly. -tv
