I like this shot, Debi, but I also think it's too dark. From the dull look of the sky, I suspect that the luminosity may have been lowered a bit too much.

Thanks Rod & aam - and once again my monitor is not calibrated and all the pictures I process in LR turn out to be dark - still dont know why - Debi

Debi, is your monitor calibrated. I'm asking because the photo looks a tiny bit dark.
aam1234 12-Jun-2009 17:06
Really good, Debi. Well done.

Rod
Very good subject & maybe some more contrast to pop the picy some more.

Thanks Doug, Konstantin I have not been working on PS lately but will try out what you said - Debi

Debi - what I have written is for Photoshop. I have no experience with LR.
Anyway - for my taste this version is better. If you don't mind, an an other idea I may be would try - slightly increase the saturation of the windows. The are doubtless the main object of the picture, so I would slightly accentuate them. Same idea - select windows with lasso tool, feather the selection (50 px should be enough) and increase saturation for the selected area. At the end fine tune with opacity.

Much better in fact. This is down right terrific Debi. -Doug

Thnaks Sue. And K for your detailed suggestion. Made some changes in LR directly and hopefully it looks better - Debi

Hi Debi,
I personally like vignetting and use it relatively often (my picture with workers in this challenge does have vignetting as well), but I don't think it is needed here. Usually vignetting is used to give more focus on the central point of the picture. I think this particularly picture does not have such central point and in any case not the circle one. If you would like to accentuate the windows then, if you don’t mind, I could recommend you to try the following:
select the windows area you wish to accentuate with the lasso tool
do Select -> Inverse
do Select -> Refine Edge and select Feather 150 px
select Curves , click central point and move it slightly down until you are happy with the result. Correct Opacity if necessary.
You can always use Brush toll to do final correctness.
I will be happy if you find this small trick useful for you.

I like the windows in a view.

Thanks Doug and Penny.

Penny I like your idea about burning the edges. I think it will look better than the vignette if I can get it right. - Debi

I like the vignetting, sort of, except that it's circular and the doors are not. If you wanted the edges darker, why not try burning? Anyway, I like this - what goes on in this building? Penny Street

Some won't like the added corner work but I do. -Doug
